Newly opened in Spring 2012, the two-story aquarium features more than 30 phenomenal displays, from shrimp and starfish to seahorses, sharks, and rays. The aquarium features a walk-through underwater tunnel and visitors are able to enjoy "a two-to-three hour journey depicting the fresh waters of the Missouri River to the warm blue coral of the Caribbean and the dark abyss of the Atlantic Ocean." The aquarium occupies the first floor of Crown Center's Halls' department store, as well as a portion of the second floor.

Kansas City, Missouri (February 6, 2013) – SEA LIFE Kansas City Aquarium announced the upcoming arrival of Missouri’s first sea turtle, Gertrude. Gertrude will arrive at the Kansas City International Airport as a passenger on Southwest Airlines on Monday, February 11th, 2013.
